Where can I park?

• Robinson Center – parking is available in the LRCVB Robinson parking deck (attached to the Robinson Center and accessible via Spring St) for a fee. There are several paid lots around the Robinson Center, and metered street parking is free on evenings and weekends. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive a little early to find parking and seats before the concert begins. How does security screening at the hall work?
All people entering the concert hall are required to pass through metal detecting magnetometers and allow inspection of any bags carried into the hall. No weapons, pocketknives, or pepper spray are allowed – please leave these items in your car to expedite going through security. It is not necessary to remove any articles of clothing, including belts or shoes.

What should I wear?
Contrary to what many people think, formal attire—such as tuxedos and evening gowns—is not required at Symphony concerts. Some people like to dress up, and some dress down for comfort. All are welcome, and there is no dress code. Most concertgoers wear business or cocktail attire. The most important thing is to be comfortable and be prepared for the venue to go from cool to warm as people fill the hall, so layers are encouraged.

When should I clap?
Applause is always appreciated – if you feel moved to show your enjoyment, please do! Generally, you clap only after a complete piece is finished. For example, if you're listening to Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, which has four movements, it is appropriate to clap only after the last movement. You can look at your program book to find out how many movements a piece has. Usually, there is a 15- to 30-second pause between movements. So, in the case of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, you know you're hearing the Finale after three pauses.

Where are the bathrooms?
In the Robinson Center, public facilities are located on the Lower Lobby Level (Orchestra), Street Level (Grand Tier), and Upper Tier Level. Facilities in the Clinton Presidential Center are located on the same level as the Great Hall wear performances are held. If you need to excuse yourself during a performance, please wait for a pause in the music to retake your seats, as a consideration to other patrons.

Are concessions available?
Beverages are available at most concerts in the Robinson Center and Clinton Presidential Center. Concessions are located in the Lower Lobby Level, Street Level, and Historic Lobby Level of the Robinson Center before concerts and during intermission. Concessions are located outside the Great Hall in the Clinton Presidential Center before concerts and during intermission.

I’ve never experienced an orchestra concert before. What will it be like?
Classical music is exciting, surprising, and often funny. You will probably recognize more music than you expect – many television shows, movies, video games, and even popular songs use or are based on classical themes. The Pops Live! series in particular often explores this relationship. You will notice intense silences, powerful brass statements, and beautiful string and woodwind melodies – this music is meant to be heard live!
