Violin

Trisha Freeney has been an Arts Partner with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and
Rockefeller String Quartet since September 2013. Highlights of her time here in Little Rock include performing Mendelssohn’s “Octet” with guest artist Tessa Lark in the River Rhapsody’s Chamber Music Series, performing as violin soloist alongside the ASO in Astor Piazzola’s “Winter” under the direction of Philip Mann, and performing in various small chamber ensembles with the New Deal Salon Concert Series directed by Tatiana Roitman.

A Kansas City native, Trisha holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music (UMKC), where she studied violin performance with Benny Kim. Her earlier education includes Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied violin performance with Ian Swensen and chamber music with the late Mark Sokol.

During her time at UMKC, Trisha was awarded a prestigious fellowship with the Graduate Fellowship String Quartet, performing with the ensemble for three years under the guidance of Carter Enyeart. Her career is marked by a rich blend of orchestral, solo, and chamber music performances, as well as a commitment to teaching. She has performed and taught extensively across the Kansas City metropolitan area, Des Moines, Iowa, Wichita, Kansas, Saint Joseph, Missouri, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Trisha has been appointed to several prominent positions: Assistant Concertmaster with the Saint Joseph Symphony and tenure-track violin positions with both the Des Moines Symphony and
the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. Her recent performance engagements include appearances with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony, Wichita Symphony, Saint Joseph Symphony, Kansas City Ballet, Civic Opera Theatre of Kansas City, Monterey Symphony, Marin Symphony, Oakland/East Bay Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, and the Oakland Opera Theatre.

A finalist in the New World Symphony auditions in Miami, Florida, Trisha has also had the opportunity to perform with the orchestra as a substitute. She has studied with distinguished musicians such as Noah Geller, former Concertmaster of the Kansas City Symphony, and Catherine Van Hoesen of the San Francisco Symphony. Additionally, she has participated in violin master classes with Charles Castleman, Brian Lewis, and Ellen Jewett and chamber music master classes with Sadao Harada, Robert Mann, Jorja Fleezanis, and Mack McCray, as well as with the Parker, Ying, Formosa, and St. Lawrence String Quartets.

When Trisha isn’t practicing or performing, she enjoys selling real estate, dreaming of her next travel adventure, or spending time with her husband and their two children, Ava and Knox.
